Surveillance: Merchandise - Toys

This came out about the same time as the arcade game. It seems to be based more on the NES game than the arcade version, though, because you spend the entire game running through Blue Dragon hallways. It's pretty fun to play, for an LCD-based game.

It's a finger skateboard. Whoopee. They made it because, you know, all Strider fans are heavy into finger skateboarding. Riiiight.

Many of the Marvel Vs. Capcom crew were given the toy treatment by Toy Biz. As you can see, Strider is bundled with Spiderman, and a very good Spiderman it is, too. The Hiryu toy, on the other hand, leaves something to be desired. It's gawky, awkward, and ungainly. Why Toy Biz? Why? Why not McFarlane toys? If not them, why not Rhesaurus? I mean, Capcom already had a contract with them to do those Street Fighter toys...why couldn't they just do a Hiryu figure? That would've rocked so hard! But no...we got the geek treatment.

You can usually find these on sale at Kay-Bee Toys. They're not that hard to get hold of.

This is one of those prototype/mock-up toys that only existed in the brainstorming lab. This concept is pretty cool, now that I think about it...can you imagine building a Lego version of Ballog? How about a Zain terminal? How about that huge drill from Mission 00? Or the electrical tower from Siberia in the original game? The possibilities are endless...but unfortunately, this idea was scrapped, much to our disappointment.
