Dossier: Strider on Sega Master System

YEAR: 1991

HARDWARE: 3.3 MHz Z80 CPU

DEVELOPER: Capcom

PUBLISHER: SEGA

DEBUT PRICE: ??

If you're looking for non-stop Strider action with stunning graphics that just won't quit...you won't find it here. This conversion sucks. It's not like the Master System wasn't capable of more than this, because it was. Check out Rastan Saga sometime if you doubt me on this one.

Anyway, the graphics aren't the worst part of this game. The worst part of this game is watching your favorite scenes get cannibalized by the palette the programmers chose. Okay, Hiryu's gi is supposed to be blue. BLUE! Not fuschia! And his belt is silver, not green! And snow is white, not purplish! And dammit, WHERE'S MY OPTION A?!?! Sometimes it just circles once and disappears!

Another not-so-minor annoyance is the near or total lack of gravity at some points in the game. You'll take a flying cartwheel jump across a pit and never come down...or perhaps you'll land on an invisible platform in midair and find yourself unable to get down. WHY?!?!

Do NOT get this version of the game unless you absolutely have to. It's even worse than the DOS version, in my opinion.
