It had to be done. You guys have been nagging me about it for a good bit, now. It had just seen the end of its use, and had to be put out to pasture.

I'm talking about the LSCM Nexus, of course. It finally exploded, due to all the porn spammers hacking the HTML code and all my counter-hacks to keep them out.

So I moved it over to Runboard.com, and you can visit the new Nexus by clicking on the button in the menu to your left. Unfortunately, you'll have to join it if you want to post anything, but at least it keeps the spammers away.

Aside from that, the only news I have is that I've been doing some searching on the deep deep web to try to figure out if there's a Strider 3 in the works. I started with this Spong article from 2002 saying that Capcom was thinking about doing a 3D Strider for XBox and went from there.

The trail led me to another article saying that Strider 3 was actually in production by Production Studio 6, the same studio that put out Chaos Legion. Unfortunately, due to Chaos Legion's failure (and immense suckage), Production Studio 6 closed down in 2004.

Here's the article I found regarding that:

Capcom Closes Tokyo Development Studios
By David Smith

Capcom is closing down the majority of its Tokyo-based development studios, multiple sources at the Game Developers Conference report.

While that isn't as much of a blow as one might assume, since the bulk of Capcom's development efforts are based in Osaka rather than Tokyo, most of the publisher's in-house PC development section is gone, as well as the Production Studio 6 team responsible for Chaos Legion. The remaining studios that were once directly overlooked by senior managing director Yoshiki Okamoto, like Capcom's Nagoya studio, have also been dissolved, although many of their staff already reportedly left the company to join Okamoto at his new company.

Capcom still has a substantial development base at its Osaka headquarters, so this news isn't quite as bad as it may seem. However, we'll continue to follow more developments in the story as E3 approaches, and Capcom prepares to debut a new round of games for the coming year.

And there the trail ends.

I'm not sure what I think about this. I haven't been too impressed with the 3D remakes of classic games like Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden (and I firmly believe that the development teams for both of those games were accidentally switched), and I certainly wasn't happy with the 3D Hiryu that appeared in those Capcom All Stars screenshots.

It would be cool to see how far the development team got, though. I don't think they got anywhere near done, but I would like to see concept sketches, storyboards, and stuff like that. That would rock.

Oh well. If I hear anything else, I'll let you guys know, so stay tuned.

I'm out. See you on the new Nexus.
