Over a year between updates. I am a terrible webmaster. I hope to change that in the near future. I have major changes in store for the LSCM. For the moment, though, I only have a couple of things to say. First up is the latest revision of the Super Grafx and Strider 3 pages. No news on Strider 3, just a revision to the page, mind you. The SGX page, however, I've been surprised by. It seems people have used that page as a source, all over the Net. I never thought that would happen. The journalism on the old page was terrible, so I edited it and updated it with some new scans of the EGM 18 article, courtesy of parallax scroll. I've also moved the Nexus. The Runboard was pretty much dead. So I've folded into Dire 51's Third Moon Forum. When I'm online, I'm there more often than not, so it seemed like the natural place to be. Plus, the board might actually get some activity there. *L* That's pretty much it, concerning Strider news. However, I have one more thing I'd like to talk about. And that's congratulations for my buddy Dire 51, aka Rob Strangman, webmaster of the West Mansion, ClassicGaming.com's Splatterhouse homepage. As you may have heard, Namco is making a new Splatterhouse game. What you may not have heard is that they're using the West Mansion for their research and prep work. I know this because the dev team contacted Rob and asked him to be a part of their grassroots promotion for the new game. THAT is amazing. As I was telling Rob, Namco didn't have to include him. It's all their information, anyway. That's how cool this dev team is, that they want to include the webmaster of a fansite. There's more. Not only do they want him to do promotion for the game, they sent him an ASSLOAD of old Splatterhouse artwork, taken from the Namco archives, scanned off of the microfiche, and cleaned up. Sweet zombie jebus! That's quite possibly the coolest part about this. He's gotten his hands on rare archives that no one else has! Most fansite webmasters would give their left two lugnuts for that kind of a scoop! Myself included! I'd be lying if I didn't say that all of this attention on the West Mansion doesn't give me some hope. If Namco can remake the Splatterhouse franchise, maybe Capcom can remake Strider. It'd take some diplomacy, as Moto Kikaku owns the rights to the Hiryu character along with Capcom, but I think that things are looking up. Especially given the revamp of Bionic Commando for current-gen home systems and the remake of the original for XBLA. If they can revive those games, Strider may not be far behind. And since this year marks the 20th anniversary of Hiryu's creation, now would be the PERFECT time for Capcom to revive the franchise. Something to think about. Look for upgrades to the LSCM very soon. 'Til next time.
