It's Halloween! Is anyone dressing up as a Strider? Send me pics! Especially if you have the balls to dress up as Solo! Anyway, what's going on with Strider this week? Well, I did happen to find out some more about that Strider Hiryu 2: Mission Impossible manga. Like me, several of you probably saw this fantastic piece of artwork on Bueno's old site and craved more. Was it official? Was it a doujinshi? Turns out it's not official, it actually was the people at Magic Capsule, as I suspected all along. They drew it but never scanned it in completely, and these are the only pics they put up:
Not bad work, I say. I just wish people with this much talent would actually share it with the rest of the world. Lord knows you can never get enough Strider manga. Next on the agenda is something that's dear to my heart. I've said this before, but basically, I've been online since late 1997, and during that time I've seen a lot of sites come and go. I remember when Blue Dragon, "The Official, Unofficial Strider Homepage," and Neostrider were the only Strider sites on the net. Of those three, only Michael Varley's site is still around. He netted the ClassicGaming.com account that everybody wanted, saving himself from death, but not, as it turned out, from stagnation. When Neostrider disappeared, the Strider web community took a big hit. But when the Blue Dragon disappeared...that one really caught me off-guard. Frankly, it pissed me off. The Blue Dragon was always the true source for Strider info on the net. The only thing my site's really improved upon is in fancy presentation and large amounts of fan-generated art. His content would still trump mine. So...when I stumbled across an old, disused mirror for the Blue Dragon, I seized the opportunity. I've got tons of webspace and bandwidth here on Topcities, so I decided to share it. I ripped the entire mirror and have created a new one right here, in the heart of the Light Sword Cypher Mainframe. But that's not all. I found another mirror for a Strider site that was dear and true to my heart. Bueno, you should probably either hang your head in embarassment or start laughing your ass off right about now, because somehow I managed to find a mirror for the old Strider Island Moralos. Being the good-hearted (ego-driven), generous (greedy) webmaster that I am, I ripped that mirror too...and have preserved it here for posterity. I think this is history, people. I can't remember anyone ever using a site ripper (a program whose purpose is dubious at best) to do something legitimate. And I did it all for you, the Strider fans. Friends don't let friends' Strider websites die. I set up CJB.net accounts for both mirrors, so from now on, all you have to do to go to The Blue Dragon or Bueno's old site is go to the following addresses: http://moralos.cjb.net/ I added both of these links to my links page, as well. Update your favorite places, my friends. These sites are here for the long haul. Enjoy.
